Two Days: June 24th & 25th - 10am - 3:30pm both days

In collaboration with the Office of Black Male Advancement, join us for The Essentials: Training for People Who Mentor and Support Black Boys & Young Men. This training aims to provide adults with the skills and knowledge needed to be effective mentors for Black young men and boys.

The training consists of three modules:

  • Examination of cultural competencies, including an exploration of personal views on privilege and race, providing tools for building ethnic/racial pride,
  • Identification of social capital and related empowerment of mentee and family, and the importance of racial identity, and
  • Exploration of research-based strategies and approaches that can assist mentors as they embrace a critical consciousness in their work with young Black males.

This workshop is vital for creating supportive and impactful mentoring relationships that can positively influence the lives of young Black men and boys. The training is open to anyone that works with Black boys and young men. Attendees that attend both workshop days can recieve a certificate of completion.
